The Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship collaborates with the GW New Venture Competiton to host a series of team-building events and how-to workshops to facilitate the efforts of all GW constituents who are interested in entrepreneurship. Workshops usually feature an experienced entrepreneur-practitioner as a guest speaker and allow for learning key entrepreneurial concepts and practices and for networking with like-minded people.

Financial Projections Workshop
In this workshop, Steven Rogers focuses on how to create the single page financial model of your business. It is simple arithmetic; any formal financial training will just get in the way.
Business Planning Workshop
This workshop discusses the format of a successful business plan and gives guidance approaches to developing a plan that is compelling to prospective funders and investors.
2016 Startup Career Fair
The GW Startup Career Fair is a joint event for DC area universities, led by the George Washington. Hundreds of the most talented and educated students gather on campus to network for internships and job opportunities with local startup companies. This is a great opportunity for companies to reach out to hundreds of DC area students.
Getting Your Legal House in Order
Guest speaker Peter Weissman discusses common legal challenges faced by startup companies from formation of the company to contractual and patent issues. From this talk you will learn why it is important to have a company, how to identify the key differences between the various company structures, how to avoid common contract issues, and what steps need to be taken to protect your team's valuable patents and trademarks.
Pitching to Investors and Funders
Lex McCusker, Director of the GW New Venture Competition presents methods for conveying facts about a startup venture efficiently. This workshop explores approaches for generating enthusiasm for your venture and addressing the fears and concerns that investors and funders have about any new venture.
